1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year. Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain, with almost 9 percent of people meeting criteria for diagnosis. Depression affects 1 in 5 older people living in the community and 2 in 5 living in care homes. After being a General Medical Practitioner for twenty two years I left in order to further my career in hypnotherapy and lecturing.
Apart from my medical and other qualifications i am:
- UKCP Registered Hypno-Psychotherapist
- Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) Master Practitioner
- Time Line Practitioner
- Meta States Practitioner
- UKCP Approved Clinical Supervisor
Having trained in a very wide range of therapies including Solution Oriented Therapy, Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, Ericksonian Hypnosis, CBT and many others, my training totals well over two thousand hours.
It is known that the best results are obtained when the therapist is flexible, understands a wide range of approaches, and tailors the therapy to the individual needs of the client. The therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is of paramount importance. It is for this reason that I always have a telephone conversation with each client before therapy commences, in order to ensure that when we commence therapy we are comfortable with each other, the approaches that will be used and the goals towards which we are working.
Working to the brief therapy model, most of my clients resolve their issues within three sessions of one hour but sometimes clients return at a later date for another session if they feel it is necessary. However not all clients resolve within that time-frame and so a few clients need more sessions, but we always review progress in order to ascertain that appropriate progress is being made. In most cases sessions are scheduled at intervals of two weeks in order that clients can practice techniques and make progress between sessions.
Progress with clients is made because we work in partnership to achieve agreed goals. Progress can be surprisingly rapid but if you are looking for hypnosis as a magic wand that changes you without any effort on your part then you will be disappointed. However hypnosis has often been proved to facilitate progress in psychotherapy.
The wide variety of problems with which I work includes Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety states, personal development, psychosexual problems, depression, chronic medical conditions, psychosomatic disorders, habit disorders such as smoking and a wide range of other issues that are amenable to therapy. If you wish to discuss whether my approach would be appropriate for you then please e-mail or telephone.
I charge £90 per individual one hour session, payable at the time. This charge reflects my extensive training and experience. I am thus able to facilitate the fastest possible change in clients. Whilst some other therapists may charge less per session, this could be more expensive in the long run since they may require more sessions. As stated earlier, most of my clients resolve their issues within three sessions.
